The BriarPickers, an old-time string band based in Jacksonville, FL for over 10 years, has performed at various locations across Northern and Central Florida, including the Florida Folk Festival, Municipal Events, Contra Dances, Private Parties and Reunions, and more. Although their primary interest has been playing Celtic/Irish/Fiddle tunes for Contra Dances, they also draw from their musical experiences and have expanded their talented resources to include some Jazz, Swing, and even some Classical tunes. They also specialize in Civil War Music – performing in their authentic Civil War era wardrobe as the OLUSTEE String Band. With their diverse repertoire, the BriarPickers don’t fit the mold for any specific style of music… but are sure to please and entertain everyone with their music and flair for variety. They have already won several championship awards for their old-time style, humor and down-home family entertainment.
